Beautiful Roof

My father was an observant man and among the things he assessed with a keen eye were shoes, character, and roofs. He was in the building supply business for most of his working life, and could spot peeling shingles from a mile away.

He forgave me my run-down heels, taught me to stand up for what’s right, and would be proud to see my new roof. Dad, it’s a beauty.

Clark said it's is one of the nicest he’s done in long time, and I believe it. Since the roof was fully rebuilt from the rafters on up, he could do it right. He had no problem spots to compensate for, no workaround patches needed to be made. I knew for sure he meant it when he took my camera and captured a few shots of the knife-edge straight valleys and perfectly ordered ridgelines. My wobbly sense of balance keeps me off most high places, so I’m glad to see the fine construction from the safety of my armchair.

This was not an easy roof to construct, and Clark used his signature techniques and good craftsmanship on the details homeowners don’t usually see. There is heavy rubber roofing in the valleys and a deep drip edge. This roof should last me as long as I’m here, which I hope will be a very long time.
