Weekend Warriors

I’m grateful to the weekday crew who have kept the project alive even when progress slows to a crawl. But there’s also a weekend crew, less regular but no less skilled at what they do. Usally led by Clark, weekends are when the bulk of the site work gets done. Nick, the man at the helm of the backhoe, has done a great job of excavating, trenching, backfilling and in general moving a small mountain of earth from here to there and back again.

This weekend, the crew evened out the rutted driveway, filled in some depressions and transferred the piles of earth that were displaced by earlier excavations making the site look much more presentable.

And a long-awaited beautiful stack of hemlock was delivered to build the garage, boards two inches thick and straight as arrows. It feels like we’re about to make a major push toward getting this project done. As we head toward Thanksgiving, I can’t think of anything that would make me more grateful.
